Verse For Thought

Hey Ladies, ever had an area in your walk with the Lord that you were convicted about? Via the preaching at your church, your Bible reading or even when you screw up so big you have this realization that something must be done about this!! (Or if you’re like me, it’s all of those!) This happened to me a month or so ago. I was so very convicted on the way I was treating my husband and over-all not doing ALL I can to make him the happiest he can be. Of course, I try but I fail more times than I do it right. I have the Lord so it shouldn’t be that way. Now I know this subject is super touchy with Christian women. I don’t know why though? If you’re truly striving to be a Biblical, godly wife that wants to please God and have a full reward and truly be the happiest in your marriage you can be on this earth, then the Bible, sermons, or Sunday school lessons shouldn’t upset you. They should cause you to beg God for help! Right? I know that’s how I feel!  (Sorry, that little sermon was free!)

I want so badly to be a good wife. A Godly wife. I want to be such a good wife that my husband can’t HELP but love me like crazy and want to be with me every spare second he has! You say, “that’s so stupid, Natalie.”…well…then you keep doing your thing and I’ll do mine! 😛

So, I’ve already been convicted about the way I speak to my husband and treat him on a daily basis and wanting to make him the happiest he can be! (I would like to clarify that I don’t believe I’m a total Hagzilla to my husband lol I just need some work!) and I would get little hints and sometimes not-so-little hints from my husband about me not exactly being the most respectful. You know what ladies? In that moment, I hate that…but he’s absolutely right. (Eph. 5:33b)

So on top of me screwing up and knowing I need to work on this area, I was listening to one of my favorite speakers (Cathy Berry) and she made a statement that really hit me. She said “Your husband was made for God. You were made for your husband.” You were made FOR YOUR HUSBAND.  Of course,  I knew this……but I just never heard it put THIS way. The Lord was just telling me AGAIN that I need to keep that my focus. Then on top of all this, our Pastor has been really mentioning this a lot lately too. Especially about women needing to bite our tongues way more than we do and disrespecting our husbands. This was all in the course of like, one month…so I would hear this and just be like…”Ok Lord, alright, alright…I KNOW! I’m working on it! lol (Obviously, not enough though because he kept reminding me.)

And of course, in my  Bible reading, I came across this verse.

VERSE FOR THOUGHT:

>>>>>>Phil. 2:3,4 “Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.” KJV<<<<<<<

And I thought this is perfect! Now, I know this isn’t talking about wives specifically but it was exactly what I’d been convicted about. The Lord sure knows how to put things perfectly, doesn’t He? I’m terrible with words so verses like this that say it for me are such a blessing. So I printed it out and put it on my kitchen window to remind me whenever I look at it. Just to keep in mind that my husband’s needs come before mine! His needs come before my children’s……Ouch!! That one is hard for we mothers! (Guilty) But I’ve been slowly learning that whenever I do what the BIBLE says it makes for a happier life. My husband is miraculously happier too when he’s treated right (aren’t we all?) by his wife. I’ve been making this my goal.

This is also a very good applicable verse…

>>>>>>>1 Cor. 7:34 “There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.”<<<<<<<

Now, wouldn’t it be nice if when we were convicted about something spiritually and confessed and asked forgiveness and found a verse to memorize/study and back up our resolution we never had a problem with this area again?!? ABSOLUTELY! But, unfortunately, we are but flesh and the Devil HATES (I can’t stress this enough!! He HATES you doing right.) The Devil loves us talking about being a Godly wife and WANTING to be a Godly wife…but actually doing something about it; changing the way you’ve been?? NO, He’ll do all he can to prohibit a wife who wants to do it the Lord’s Way. So constantly we’re going to battle this and many other things. But the Lord is there to help at our moment of weakness. Take advantage of that privilege!! Heb. 4:16 But just keep Phil. 2:3,4 in your mind and hopefully it will help you and motivate you, like it did me, to be the Godly wife we’re striving to be!
